May 28, 2013 at 12:36 comment added KConrad There is a note after the preface of the English translation saying that Gelfand asked for the appendices not to be translated. I looked at them online (they're on perturbation theory) and couldn't figure out why the appendices would not be something to translate. Do you know if there was some awkward homage to Stalin in the 1950 edition? The appendices I looked at are from a more recent edition.
