Mar 9, 2015 at 19:52 comment added Nate Eldredge I've now had a chance to look at the Adams--Clarke paper, and it looks pretty straightforward to me. So maybe you should be very specific about which part you want to ask about, e.g. a specific line or sentence.

it isn't Frank H. Gross
Mar 9, 2015 at 18:50 comment added Nate Eldredge I also took the liberty of cleaning up the typesetting. I think this is a reasonable and interesting question, but you will find questions on this site are better received when the asker has visibly taken the time to produce a clear, precise, and well-thought-out question which they have already put some effort into answering themselves.

oops
Mar 9, 2015 at 18:45 comment added Nate Eldredge Thanks. I have filled in the full citation. In particular, you omitted the name of the paper's other author, Frank Clarke.

Mar 9, 2015 at 18:24 comment added Thomas Kojar Thanks. I added them in my answer but here they are also: (1) Adams "Gross's Logarithmic Sobolev Inequality: A Simple Proof" 1979 (2)help with the argument at page 1268 (3)any variational proof

Mar 9, 2015 at 3:09 comment added Nate Eldredge Suggestions: (1) Please write out the full citation (title, author, journal, etc) to the paper with the variational calculus argument. The link you give can't be used outside the University of Toronto. (2) Are you asking for help with the argument in that paper? In that case, please be specific about which part you don't understand. As it stands, it sounds like you want someone to rewrite the paper for you, which is unreasonable. (3) Or are you asking for other possible proofs, such as Bakry-Emery? Have a look at some of their other papers, many of which are in English.
