Mar 12, 2010 at 12:41 comment added Willie Wong To better illustrate the concept of "extreme" and "interpolation", one should note that the extreme cases work for the homogeneous Sobolev spaces, whereas the other cases require an inhomogeneous term. (The trivial example: (1+|x|)^(-epsilon) is in homogeneous W^(1,1) of R for any positive epsilon, and (hence also) in L^infty. For for any fixed epsilon there is a range of L^p with 1 <= p < infty such that the function is not in L^p. But for any function in W^(1,1) and in L^1, by interpolation it will be in any L^p.)
