Aug 29, 2014 at 10:09 | comment | added | Asaf Karagila♦ | Thinking about the Grigorieff paper (about intermediate models of generic extensions) recently, I think that he shows that that symmetric elements are OD (with parameters) and hereditarily symmetric are HOD (with parameters). But the parameters are the names which generate the group of symmetries preserving the particular name. So perhaps it's possible to construct a forcing with a name for a set of reals preserved by all the automorphisms of the forcing (all of them), but none of its elements is preserved by all the automorphisms. That would correspond to something OD but not HOD.

Aug 29, 2014 at 7:44 | comment | added | Vladimir Kanovei | I'm not able to find anything relevant on David Pincus except that he is cited in FUNDAMENTA MATHEMATICAE 181 (2004) On the Leibniz-Mycielski axiom in set theory by Ali Enayat, where indeed an extension of L by a Dedekind-finite set of J reals is considered.

Aug 29, 2014 at 7:25 | comment | added | Asaf Karagila♦ | Vladimir, on a Google search once, I came across an announcement of a set theory seminar from a couple years back, where Pincus gave a talk about the model $L(J)$, where $J$ is the set of Jensen minimal reals. Perhaps the work you do here is related to his results there (which I could not find anywhere).
