Jul 12, 2014 at 15:00 comment added Zhen Lin We can regard $\mathcal{C}^\mathrm{op}$ as a $\mathcal{C}$-enriched category with tensors (or category with a left $\mathcal{C}$-action); then this is a special case of the monad associated with a monoid. (A monad on $\mathcal{C}^\mathrm{op}$ is the same thing as a comonad on $\mathcal{C}$.)
