Feb 1, 2014 at 21:56 comment added David White I'm traveling and only have my phone, so I can't check this, but the answer might be in a recent paper of Luck and Uribe which I remember seeing on the arxiv within the past six months. The references point to a very complete survey by Luck which might serve as a modern update to the work of May which you cite. Hope that helps.
