Jun 23, 2010 at 13:16 comment added GS Is it true that really understanding what you're asking for would allow one to settle the James conjecture (relating Hecke alg. reps at a root of unity to modular reps of the corresponding Weyl group)? If I remember correctly, one consequence of this would be that if p^2>n for a prime p, then (working w/ $W=S_n$ the symmetric group) simple modules for the Hecke algebra at a pth root of unity stay simple upon reduction mod p.
