The criterion 5 you list does seem optimal for checking and agrees with cases I recollect from various sources. I'm still wondering if such equivalent conditions have been written down explicitly with proofs, but at least the bits and pieces make sense to me. I will have to get acquainted with the Kobayashi paper. | |

It is related to the property of minusculity, but is not quite the same. See the beginning of Chapter 9 of Billey and Lakshmibai, Singular Loci of Schubert Varieties for a little more information on that connection. | |
