Nov 26, 2020 at 2:22 | comment | added | Alec Rhea | I think this is a good question, although I would pay big money for a program that worked similar to detexify but with notes integration, so when you draw a symbol it suggests latex symbols you may have wanted from the detexify library and allows you to use them. It would greatly simplify category theory notes, and probably notes in other disciplines too, although figuring out how to integrate super/subscripts etc would be tricky.

Sep 15, 2011 at 14:09 | comment | added | Zoran Skoda | As long as pen writes in some graphic window it could be interchange by mouse or any other device which can control writing there. PCs are made of components from different vendors and standards. So ut must be with recording writing with voice technology as well. Any bundled solution is not a solution.
Sep 15, 2011 at 14:09 | comment | added | Zoran Skoda | It is disappointing "solution" to have a pen which must write on a special paper, which must use ink, and which must be the single ocmpbiantion of a software and hardware from the same company. Ideally a synchronous recording of sound plus the track of the pen needs a separate any type microphone and separate electronic pen of any company unified by a single software.

Oct 10, 2010 at 23:20 | comment | added | Andrew D. King | @Matt I totally agree. Beamer is so useful, especially if you give a similar talk many times, but you can end up being really handcuffed by it, especially if the room doesn't have a good setup.

I am dumb.

Jan 25, 2010 at 7:06 | comment | added | Matt Noonan | In a similar vein, I've been curious about attempts at blending Beamer with blackboard talks via a pen. The one thing I really miss from transparencies is the ability to write stuff out on-the-fly on a blank. It would be great if there were a digital alternative. Re: relevancy to MO, I think mathematicians care more about this sort of half-prepared, half-live talk than most other people would.
Jan 25, 2010 at 5:07 | comment | added | B. Bischof | No Qiaochu, it wouldn't. Recall that mathoverflow is about questions that researching mathematicians would be interested in. If I were asking about the specs of the device or how well it performs its suggest tasks then yes, superuser would be the place to go. As I am asking how mathematicians find the product to be helpful in mathematical environments, mathoverflow is the more appropriate place to ask. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve this question, I would be enthusiastic to hear them. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Jan 25, 2010 at 4:36 | comment | added | Qiaochu Yuan | Wouldn't this question be more appropriate at superuser?
