Are you saying that the equation defining the surface has to be multiplied by certain power of $x_i$ for some $i$? Can we say that if there exists a smooth surface of degree $d$ containing $C$ and $l$ then there exists a smooth surface of degree $d$ defined by an equation as above? | |
