fix typo for order of vanishing of Dedekind zeta (should be rank of units)
Oct 3, 2010 at 12:51 comment added John Rognes As a minor note, for $F$ totally real and abelian, the "fudge factor" power of $2$ in Lichtenbaum's conjecture is known to be $2^{r_1}$ (on the right hand side) when $m>0$ is even. This follows from Wiles' proof of Iwasawa's Main Conjecture for these number fields, as explained in: J. Rognes and C. Weibel, Two-primary algebraic K-theory of rings of integers in number fields. Appendix A by M. Kolster. J. Amer. Math. Soc. 13 (2000), no. 1, 1--54.
