I'm interested in the question how one can find the Chevalley-Eilenberg resolution purely algebraically/categorically, without the geometric motivation from the de Rham complex (like the bar resolution of a group G arises as the chain complex associated to the simplicial set nerve(G), where G is considered a category with one object). Is it some generalization of the Koszul complex in commutative algebra?
