Dec 10, 2012 at 13:54 | comment | added | rita | As you point out, the branch locus $B$ is the set of tangent lines to $S$, so it is the image of the projectivized tangent bundle of $S$ via a birational maps. $B$ has a 2-dimensional double locus, corresponding to the image of the bitangent lines. Also, the map factors through the involution of $Hilb$ that maps $p,q\in S$ to the remainining 2 points on the line joining $p$ and $q$. Maybe this can help with the computation. | |
