Jun 20, 2022 at 4:43 | comment | added | David Roberts♦ | If anyone is wondering, I did a bit of digging through the literature, and I'm now convinced the Joyal model structure @Dmitri is referring to was only found between 2004 and 2006, or else Joyal kept it a secret and wouldn't tell anyone. His work on quasicategories may have started back in the 80s, but I can't see evidence that the model structure was known then, based on comments in papers/notes/slides from the period 2002-2007.

got my history confused, there are two different model structures in the simplicial world due to Joyal

Jun 19, 2022 at 23:18 | comment | added | David Roberts♦ | @Dmitri I'm afraid I may have been mistaken about the origins of the Joyal model structure on sSet, getting the story mixed up with the origin of the model structure for simplicial presheaves.
Jun 19, 2022 at 15:12 | comment | added | Dmitri Pavlov | Do you have any reference for the claim about the Joyal model structure? Perhaps a specific letter from their correspondence where it is discussed?
