Any possible way to invert a function built from a sum of two? Here's a general strategy. 1) Write as a power series around a single point $t$. 2) Invert this power series. There are "nice" expressions for 2). For 1) it depends on how you choose $t$. |

Eigenvalues of Symmetric Tridiagonal Matrices No. The proofs are simple enough that I don't know where they can be found. math.caltech.edu/Szego.html might contain these things. The main reason I'm hesitating posting a proof is that most proofs are heavy on notation, e.g. introduce orthogonal polynomials. |
