Any closed form for series like $F(x)=\Sigma_{i=p}^{\infty}x^p$,p is prime$? XL, if the answer is helpful, even if it's not a complete answer, I'd encourage you to vote it up. |

Any closed form for series like $F(x)=\Sigma_{i=p}^{\infty}x^p$,p is prime$? Your first display makes no sense. Maybe you meant $$\sum_{p=2}^{\infty}x^p,p{\rm\ is\ prime}$$ |

Given an even integer N, what is the minimum set of primes such that any even number x <= N can be expressed as the sum of two primes from the set? I'm looking at the review of Granville's paper at MR, and it looks like where you have $c\sqrt x\log x$ it should be $c\sqrt{x\log x}$. |

Can group solvability be detected from identities among the generators? Write $a=(12)$, $b=(1234)$. Then $X_1$ just has the two elements $a^{-1}b^{-1}ab$ and $b^{-1}a^{-1}ba$ (and the identity), right? And I think these come to $(132)$ and $(123)$, respectively. |

how to calculate probability that straight line is covered by sensors with radius r "perimeter of straight line"? Is that any different from "straight line"? or are you asking about the perimeter of a polygonal region in the plane? "random size"? random, according to which distribution? "small n circles"? What does this mean? How small is small? This question needs a lot of clarification before it will be possible to give an answer. |

Can distinct open knots correspond to the same closed knot? "There's an obvious function mapping from open knots to closed knots - just connect the two ends together." But you can do this connection in many ways, including ways that cause the open ends to pass through various loops in the knot, resulting in different closed knots. I think you have to be a little careful about how you close the knot. |

Is it difficult to prove that nature is chaotic? Proving that a mathematical model is (or isn't) chaotic is not quite the same thing as proving that Nature is (or isn't) chaotic. |
