My current MO policy: I will endeavour to answer a question if both the following are true: (1) I know the answer already, or can work it out within a few minutes, and (2) I didn't know the answer when I was a graduate student, or feel like it's the sort of question that most grad students in my area wouldn't know the answer to.

Let's see how that pans out.
