I'm now trying to install a LaTeX system on my computer (using Windows 7), but I am confused since there are two kinds of TeX systems: MikTeX and TeX Live.

Can you compare these two systems?

I'm not sure this belongs in MO... Also, a Google search turns up quite a few discussions about this. – Alberto García-Raboso Dec 5 2009 at 17:23
Sorry, this is a computer question, not a mathematical question. Try superuser.com. – Anton Geraschenko Dec 5 2009 at 18:21

I'm in agreement with Alberto. Though I've recommended to my students that if they want tex in windows, they use miktex, whereas for linux it's texlive all the way. – Charles Siegel Dec 5 2009 at 18:22

-1. This is not an MO question. The only reasonable answer is "Yes, you can compare them." Anything else is a discussion about the relative merits of either system, but as Alberto points out, this is discussed ad nauseam in other places. – José Figueroa-O'Farrill Dec 5 2009 at 18:22
