There exists the strip for the Riemann zeta function, the strip of the Tomita–Takesaki theory and the strip of complex interpolation theory.

Is this a mere coincidence or is there an (intuitive??) reason why we have a similar strip in these three theories?

I'm far from knowledgeable on the topic, but aren't the strips in Tomita–Takesaki theory and complex interpolation theory strips on which a function is defined, and the function does NOT analytically extend outside of the strip? – André Henriques Aug 15 2011 at 11:45

Could you consider giving a bit more background? mathoverflow.net/howtoask#motivation – jc Aug 15 2011 at 15:09
