I am working on Chua's circuit, which has two capacitors and an inductor i.e. 3 energy storing components. Hence, I have a set of three differential equations, which means that I have a system with number of dimensions three. I read in a book that, for such system, the number of Lyapunov exponents are three. Is this statement correct?

Yes, and you might ask this type question at math.stackexchange.com which I believe is meant for basic questions. – Helge Aug 12 2011 at 0:24
