Bill Satzer 2012-08-17T14:04:43Z 2012-08-17T14:04:43Z
I am not completely sure I understand your question. There seems to be at least two parts, one concerning singular reduction and the other dealing with regularizing collisions. There is a fairly extensive literature in each area. For the first, you might start with http://www.math.cornell.edu/~sjamaar/papers/lms.pdf. You might also look at McGehee's work on regularizing collisions - this is older work from the '70's and 80's.
http://mathoverflow.net/questions/94184/does-your-dissertation-matter-for-industry-research-jobs/94242#94242 Answer by Bill Satzer for Does your dissertation matter for industry research jobs? Bill Satzer 2012-04-16T19:13:33Z 2012-04-16T19:13:33Z
Except in very unusual circumstances, the dissertation is mostly irrelevant in industrial employment. Far more relevant are willingness to learn, ability to communicate with people in other disciplines (learning to speak the language they speak), and a decent breadth in science and mathematics.
http://mathoverflow.net/questions/93003/best-book-for-learning-sensor-fusion-specifically-regarding-imu-and-gps-integrat/93011#93011 Answer by Bill Satzer for Best book for learning sensor fusion, specifically regarding IMU and GPS integration. It won't answer all your questions, but I think it will help quite a bit.
