I would like to see some examples of the different "types".

Thanks, Tom
http://mathoverflow.net/questions/64239/locally-constant-functions-with-compact-support-smooth Locally constant functions with compact support = smooth ? Tom 2011-05-07T22:28:39Z 2011-05-09T07:44:58Z
Hello,

I have a trivial question, but I hope that you don't mind helping. I often get confused with basic definitions.

Let F be a p-adic field. Then (from what I understand) $C_c^{\infty}(F)$ is the set of functions $f: F \to \mathbb{C}$ such that $f$ is locally constant and $f$ has compact support. Is the locally constant part the same as smooth or continuous (the $\infty$)? What exactly does smooth mean in this case?

Thanks, Tom
http://mathoverflow.net/questions/78284/non-split-groups Comment by Tom Tom 2011-10-16T20:53:01Z 2011-10-16T20:53:01Z Ok, I have done that now. Thanks. I wasn't sure since I was just looking for a reference.
