Ho Chung Siu, doubt what you wnat to doubt. you of all people should know that we have 2 different imo math teams one for mainlaind china (which is statistically speaking much harder to qualify for and one for Hong Kong). Anyhow, my teacher strongly discouraged me to enter imo after my successful qualification, since i was too young. He said it might harm me rather than make me stronger in the future. Terry Tao's advise I will follow gladly, then.

Michael Hoffman, please excuse my inadvertently self-proclaimed arrogance. personally, it think it's ok to have some ego given my young age. I'll be the first chinese boy to have ever been admitted to the new accelerated program that allows me to attend baida university. i have also passed the examination requirement as youngest chinese in history. &quot;It does not particularly matter whether I am able to distinguish a top mathematician.&quot; I think you are wrong here. Michael Hoffman, are you in a position to judge whether someone is a top mathematician or not ? My two proofs will be co-published in the forthcoming proceedings of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Now, Michael Hoffman, I don't want to question your sincerity and capability of judging whether someone is a top mathematician or not. Also, my english is not native, I self-learnt it. Given the imprecision of my english that might provide a source of ambiguity, I do think that I never stated &quot;I AM A TOP MATHEMATICIAN&quot;. admittingly i am 10 and 1/2 years old. If I may ask, David Speyer, who are the extremely advanced prodigies that you know. I am from mainland china and I taught myself english and french. I qualified for our international olympiad team but because of too young age didnt go. Representation theorem , I have proven several conjecture by myself. &quot;Ultimately idolizing prodigies only hurts the mathematical community as a whole&quot; I strongly disagree with this statement. You would not say that you were not idolizing Gian-Rota to some extent ?
