After having a solid year long undergraduate course in abstract algebra, I'm interested in learning algebra at a more advanced level, especially in the context of category theory.

I've done some research, and from what I've read, it seems that using Lang as a main text and Hungerford as a supplement would be a good combination. I've skimmed through Lang's book and it actually looks quite readable, but I would need another more detailed book like Hungerford to see some more examples/proofs while I worked through Lang.

Another option I've considered is using Mac Lane/Birkhoff's Algebra. The book seems to start off rather simply, but it eventually covers a good deal of advanced material including category theory.

I welcome all comments/suggestions that any of you may have. Thanks!
