This preceded Casselman-Shalika's <a href="http://www.numdam.org/item?id=CM_1980__41_2_207_0" rel="nofollow">paper</a> by a few years. Several of <a href="http://www.math.osu.edu/~cogdell.1/" rel="nofollow">Cogdell's</a> expository articles on L-functions have easy-to-read descriptions of the formula.</p>
